HAZARDOUS WASTE OPERATIONS & EMERGENCY RESPONSE (HAZWOPER) – 40 HOURS / 5 DAYS

This course meets the training requirements for OSHA 29 CFR 1910.12. This training is required to work on hazardous waste sites in Washington State which require only the use of an air purifying respirator (Level C) and involves certification. It is designed to provide workers with both classroom and hands-on training sufficient to assure the highest level of retention. Topics covered:

  • Hazard recognition
  • Health effects
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Decontamination
  • Site safety and health plans
  • Material handling and sampling
  • Confined space
  • Worker legal rights

COURSE

HAZARDOUS WASTE (WORKER) – 40 HOURS / 5 DAYS

Hazardous waste remediation is a major division of the environmental remediation industry. Many construction craft laborers are working in this industry. State and federal regulations require training and certification to work in this industry. The Hazardous Waste Worker course uses both classroom and hands-on training to teach common types of hazardous materials and safe methods to remediate them. This course meets and actually exceeds state and federal training requirements. The course includes:

  • Hazard recognition
  • Health effects
  • Types of personal protective equipment
  • Site safety and health plans
  • Sampling protocols for air, water and soil
  • Regulations and worker legal rights
  • Remediation technologies

COURSE

HAZARDOUS WASTE (SUPERVISOR) – 40 HOURS / 5 DAYS

Completion of the Hazardous Waste Worker course is a prerequisite for the Supervisor class. The course covers supervisor responsibilities and provides additional leadership and communication skills. The format uses small group activities to research and review SS&HPs, OSHA regulations, increase the level of hazard recognition, and help develop decision-making skills. Other topics include:

  • Emergency response
  • Media relations
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Written standard operating procedures
  • Supervisor & workers – rights and remedies

COURSE

HAZARDOUS WASTE RECERTIFICATION (WORKER) – 8 HOURS / 1 DAY

This course brings the active hazardous waste worker up to date on current regulations concerning the environmental cleanup industry. This is a federal and state requirement to maintain certification.
